~ Film/Video Transfers and Bolex Stuff ~As a filmmaker, I have an active interest in developing innovative solutions in supporting the various disciplines of the film & video arts. Please see below for information on the animation single frame motors I build for the Bolex H16 cameras. Each unit comes with handheld trigger switch and power supply. I also transfer 16mm movie film to video formats either onto DVD or a digital file for web upload or archival purposes. See below for more information. Looking forward in hearing from you. Digital
to Film |
Transfers
are based on 4x3 or 1.33:1 aspect video content. This film-out
technique is useful for incorporating various digitally created
elements into a final show print for exhibition. Please feel free
to ask for some of our recent examples. We use a modified Bolex
optical copy bench and TFT screen automated frame by frame. To do
100Ft of 16mm it takes about 4 Hrs. Typically we do not process
all stocks but can do B&W or colour reversal by special
request. Otherwise you'll need to send the film on to your local
lab for processing. Rates: $1.00 per Ft. Minimum charge is 100Ft of 16mm. Discounts can be provided based on the length of your project. We can also add optical sound to the finished 16mm film. This is a post recording procedure more suited to results with abstract sound or wild track. |
DVD Transfers |
VHS,
Betamax, MiniDV, 8mm video etc. to DVD or digital video file on
USB. Rates: $20.00 for one 2 Hr. tape. Each additional tape after, add $10.00. Depending on volume to be transferred, bulk pricing can be arranged at a discount. Files can be uploaded to your google or other cloud drive of your choice. |
Bolex Animation/Time-Lapse Motor Project |
During
some spare time at the start of the pandemic in 2020, I conceived
an idea for a replacement to some of the older animation motors
using the 1:1 drive shaft. Based on the physical dimensions of the
famous Tobin TTL motors, I created the Bonnell Animation Motor
with a separate timer box in the beginning. Newer design now as a
built in Intervalometer ranging from 4secs up to 55sec. Some of my
motors have been sold to filmmakers in Canada, UK, USA, Germany,
Iceland and Japan. I build these on request and have a lead time
of 2 weeks once an the order is placed. Price $395 animation model
only or $485 intervalometer + animation. CAD dollars + S&H.![]() ![]() ![]() |
